Pruebas de Hallazgo| Found Evidence (2014 to present)

Is a A mixed-media collage of personal X-rays, body-part photographs of my own body and official documents. Printed on see through transparent paper and then placed inside plastic bags with water, hanged and hung, as for examination. Variable dimensions.

I used my own body and medical X-rays to suggest a forensic examination through of connections with my disappeared father through my body. The images are composited with letters from my mother to me, in which she intends to explain to me her own life in relation to her disappeared husband, my father. Related documents complement this evidential 'body-landscape'.

Political repression and confiscation of documents in Venezuela 1960s and 70s hindered the making and the keeping of family memorabilia. This work aims to create a personal, chronological family album, putting pictures disjointed in time and place into an imagined continuum. Scanned photos. variable dimensions.

These images are a collection of newspaper clippings and related documents (with their translations) from primary sources. In the first compilation above, in the top-left image from left to right, there is a photo of my father Iván Daza (in the black suit) with my uncle Ramón Paris and Raúl Zurita, at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (circa 1965).

Below is a photo of my parents, my father Iván Daza with my mother Irma Paris the day of their wedding.
